Make Money With These 3 Skills
The world is changing faster and faster as technology makes great leaps. Or even without technology, a pandemic in 2020 has changed the way we live, work, shop, and travel. Because of Coronavirus, the world is a lot quieter. Air travel, the daily commute was a regular activity before the pandemic. Now, it's quite normal to work from home, take Zoom calls instead of business meetings face to face.
The big question is when all this is over, will people revert back to their old habits or will this pandemic change our work habits permanently?
Uncertainties are always confusing and terrifying for some, but once you get past the fear, you will be able to see a bundle of opportunities.
A few areas that the world is moving towards are AI, alternative energy, IoT, cybersecurity as the internet continues to grow, cloud computing, and many more.
Those may seem like daunting fields to enter if you're not Elon Musk. Well, you can still succeed and do well in the future with these 3 skill sets as the world shifts more and more online.
Writing
This one is quite important. Now, blogging is one area, although not necessarily the only option for writing. It extends as far as product description, social media posts, e-books, just to name a few. If you are good with your word, it may take you a very long way in your career.
Content creation is the future, and the winner goes to those who can write very well.
Look at Medium, which didn't exist 10 years ago, and now thousands of writers contribute there and also earn an income from their words. I don't think I need to tell you how well an income is for established bloggers.
There are so many websites that writers can set up an account, get people to subscribe, and start earning a living right away. Plenty of new authors now, because it's so easy to publish an ebook on Amazon and begin selling as long as people enjoy reading what you write. If you are a good writer, starting laying down your notes on the internet and build a following. Don't take me as an example of writing....I believe my strength is elsewhere, yet I still try to provide what I can in this online world because of how important it is.
Coding
This should be a no brainer. If you know any computer coding language, this will be helpful for years and years. The world has shifted online, especially during COVID times. The ones that really can work at home are the software engineers. Be proficient in the architecture of the internet and you will have no problem earning money in the future. It's a skill that created many billionaires and millionaires like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerburg, Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey, and many more.
Hey! But don't worry if you don't know how to code, there are plenty of websites that you can use such as Wix, Shopify to build websites or Fiverr to hire help. The median salary for a computer programmer today is $86,550. In an industry that will only grow as the year’s progress, that figure may increase.
Entrepreneurial Mindset You might be thinking what?! If I knew how I wouldn't be reading this article! But the entrepreneurial mindset is flexible and adaptable to any situation. This is quite essential in the evolving world we live in. The future comes with many changes and surprises that as an entrepreneur, you must adjust to.
My favorite example is the example of Eskimos bringing ice to towns as a business in the early days. And then the industrial refrigerators were introduced and disrupted the Eskimo business. But then home consumer refrigerators were invented, and that disrupted the industrial ice industry. Each could have evolved but wasn't flexible and open-minded enough to adapt to change.
Blockbuster had a chance to buy Netflix, but they thought Netflix was a joke. Now blockbuster is out of business and Netflix is thriving.
Take time to develop new skill sets, and be opened minded to new ideas. These are the people that will excel and stay ahead of the curb. Many businesses were started during a pandemic or financial crisis. Being adaptable is an insurance policy. During the beginning of 2020 with the Covid outbreak, I had to shift my investing and business strategies as well. Don't be left behind, start learning a skill, or set up a side hustle. Don't find an excuse, just do it.
